New Federal Regulations for CDL School Bus Drivers
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recently amended their regulations to require people who have, or who are seeking a commercial driver’s license, to self-certify the type of driving they engage in or expect to engage in to their state’s licensing agency. Additionally, all commercial driver’s license (CDL) holders, subject to the physical qualification requirements of the FMCSRs, must provide a current copy of their Medical Examiner’s Certificate to their state driver licensing agency. These provisions were signed into state law on Jan. 27. (see more)

School Bus Driver Skills Test Exams (September 2010)
In recent weeks the PSBA has received numerous telephone calls about the difficulty scheduling drivers for skills test at the PennDOT driver license centers across the state. In most instances the PennDOT sites are 6-8 weeks out scheduling appointments. The only alternative for contractors is to schedule the skills test with a Third Party Testing Site. PennDOT provides a link of all Third Party Testers open to the public in Pennsylvania including PennDOT Driver License Centers.
