Welcome to START! The School Transportation Academy for Resources and Training. PSBA is now making it more convenient for members to access educational programming right on their desktop. START will utilize “Go to Webinars” which provides an interactive setting allowing participants to submit written questions or “raise their hands” to ask questions. Presenters can lead a webinar from their home or office expanding the possibilities of speakers we can recruit for these education sessions.

Join the exceptional learner's committee for a 90-minute presentation on "Managing Aggressive Student Outbursts on the Bus" Have you ever worked with a student who can escalate from 0-to-60 in .001 seconds? Have you ever seen a student respond to a simple command with a nuclear meltdown? Have you ever worked with a colleague that seems stuck in constant battles with a student? If so, you've witnessed the Coercion Cycle. This presentation will help drivers to learn how to understand the roots of aggression and what they can do about it. While teaching positive tools you can use to help break the Coercion Cycle.
Our Speaker: Ben Springer, Ph.D., NCSP
Ben Springer is an award-winning and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Ben received his Master's and Doctoral Degrees in Educational Psychology from Utah. Ben studied neuropsychological assessment, counseling, school-wide positive behavior supports, bullying prevention programs, parental involvement, evidence-based practice, Autism, and social skills instruction. Ben works as the director of special education in Wasatch County School District located in Heber City, Utah.
For the past fifteen years, Ben has been conducting training and in-services for schools, hospitals, and clinics on managing difficult student behaviors. Ben has become a popular speaker, and presenter for his trainings on Happy Kids Don't Punch You in the Face and his Keynote addresses on Autism ("Autism is a Burrito") and ADHD ("ADHD: The Goods"). Ben has presented at the University of Utah, St. Marks Hospital Rounds, Heber Valley Pediatrics, Summit Pediatrics, Utah Valley University, and the Southwest Educational Development Center (SEDC).
In 2017, Ben created Totem PD, a professional development company for educators and mental health practitioners working with school-age children.
