START will utilize “Go to Webinars” which provides an interactive setting allowing participants to submit written questions or “raise their hands” to ask questions. Presenters can lead a webinar from their home or office expanding the possibilities of speakers we can recruit for these education sessions.

Please join us for our upcoming webinar entitled "Public Awareness Campaign Launch." Join us for an interactive webinar debuting our long-awaited Public Awareness Campaign! During this 90 minute presentation, our members will learn about the history of the campaign and how to use the branding that PSBA has had created for use in their own operations. We will also be debuting Youbehindthewheel.com, our industry recruitment website which was created to get people excited about the school bus industry and supplement our efforts to hire and retain drivers here in Pennsylvania. Viewers will also learn how to utilize and navigate our new job portal, which is a PSBA member-only recruitment tool to hire new employees for your fleet operations and so much more!

Helping Drivers Support Youth Part II

Presenter: Mary McGowan, ATTAch
Presented in partnership with the ATTAch Foundation, this webinar is designed to help make the ride successful for everyone on the bus, the Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children will teach school bus drivers how to recognize and identify dis-regulated behaviors in students. Strategies to prevent behaviors from escalating. Strategies to respond to students whose behaviors are escalating. How to troubleshoot specific problems related to behavior and communication with parents and staff is key to continued safety and understanding the student.
Our Presenter: Mary has led the Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children (ATTACh) in Minneapolis, Minnesota since 2011. During her tenure, Ms. McGowan has implemented multiple comprehensive trainings for parents and professionals which have been shared to thousands in North America. She continues to raise awareness on a National level of how early abuse and neglect impact our youth and families.
Ms. McGowan served as a post-adoption specialist for North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) doing successful grass roots recruitment for foster and adoptive families for 10 years. She has earned accolades as the National Education Manager for the Professional Association of Treatment Homes (PATH) and is an experienced trainer who teaches and consults locally and nationally.
Mary holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Community Violence Prevention and Child Development from Metropolitan State University, and a master’s candidate in Counseling and Psychological Services from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Mary earned several certifications including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Family Based Placements (TCIF) from Cornell University and is a Nationally Certified Family Group Decision Making Facilitator (FGDM).
